VINCE GILL AMONG PRESTIGIOUS LIST OF NOMINEES

NASHVILLE – November 8, 2019 -- Yesterday, the Songwriters Hall of Fame announced their 2020 nominees for induction, and among the list of legendary songwriters is MCA recording artist Vince Gill. The much-awarded country music icon has penned a string of country music’s most memorable hits, including “When I Call Your Name,” “Go Rest High On That Mountain,” and “I Still Believe In You.” Gill is nominated in the category of Performing Songwriters.

One of the most popular singers in modern country music, Gill is famous for his top-notch songwriting, world-class guitar playing and warm and soaring tenor. He achieved his big breakthrough in 1990 with “When I Call Your Name,” which won both the Country Music Association’s Single and Song of the Year awards, as well as a Grammy. Gill has won 18 CMA Awards, including Song of the Year four times – making him the most-awarded artist in that category in CMA history. Since 1990, Gill has won 21 Grammy Awards. A wide-ranging songwriter, his compositions earned him entry into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005, and in 2014, he was handed the prestigious BMI Icon award. He is also a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Most recently, Gill has been garnering much attention for OKIE, his latest album. The project includes all original songs and has received high critical praise:

“A paragon of organic talent and grace.” “Okie is a public clearing of Gill’s conscience, a platform for discussion, and a celebration of love and devotion.” ROLLING STONE

“The somber beauty of Okie reveals a side of Gill that we don’t see often enough — the quiet, reflective Gill who ponders ways that our world can be a better place and ways that we can express the depths of our love for those around us.” NO DEPRESSION

“Gill’s approach puts the focus on the songs, and maybe that’s wise...there’s an appealing honesty in the often autobiographical lyrics, and Gill’s melodies and vocals are lovely.” ASSOCIATED PRESS

In 2017, Gill was invited to become a touring member of the Eagles and continues to join them on stages around the world, while maintaining his personal touring schedule.
